Our Courses

We have started developing online courses for specific professional categories in the early 2000s. 

Along the years and above all during Covid, our passionate teaching team has designed detailed course work to allow newcomers and professionals to gain specific knowledge and achieve skills that are required by the industry.

Classes are a mix of pre-recorded videos (for students to take them at their own pace), might include live sessions and most importantly include individual and/or small groups reviews on exercise/project advancement to make sure students are progressing at best.

Shoe design

From hand-sketching to digital design (Women, Men and sneaker styles) to collection development
This online Shoe design class aims at providing students with skills in hand sketching as well as digital design to then be able to develop a shoe collection. The program is composed by 4 classes, and it progresses on a skillset achievement therefore UNLESS students have a proven previous background, they are not allowed to be admitted into a more advanced level. For any doubt, our Admissions team will be pleased to provide specific counselling.

Shoe Hand Sketching

This class provides technical features on the main footwear styles and teaches how to draw the last, how to sketch the main footwear styles and how to get inspired from images and use it/reproduce it on footwear style. A journey through women, men and sneaker styles.

Digital Shoe Design

This class aims at learning how to digitalize technical drawings with Adobe Illustrator and to create rendering illustrations with Adobe Photoshop. This course does not teach shoe sketching but only its digitalization, for this reason this class can only be taken AFTER the Online Shoe Hand Sketching class.

Advanced digital shoe design: Sneakers

This course’s objective is to learn specific Adobe Illustrator and Adobe PhotoShop tools to sketch good sneakers illustrations.

This course does not teach shoe sketching but only its digitalization, for this reason this class can only be taken AFTER the Online Shoe Hand Sketching class. More specifically students will identify various tools, menu and pallets functions of Ai/PS to draw sneakers and will learn how to make textures in AI and PS as well as brushes in AI and masks in PS.

Shoe Collection Development

This class aims at developing a shoe collection, using skills acquired in previous classes (shoe hand sketching and shoe digital design) and adding on knowledge and a perspective on marketing as it analyzes customers, brand values, positioning of brands and products. Pattern making masterclasses

The heart of Arsutoria School proprietary methodology. The most in depth and hands-on program to learn how to transform a sketch into a comprehensive patten making for footwear and bags.

Men's pattern making

We will work on derby and laced-up oxford models, representing the quintessential elegant shoes, and on lasted moccasins and tubular moccasins. We will design laced-up ankle boots with side elastic. As with women’s shoes, we will start from the lasts, constructing the base shell, and getting the pieces/patterns of the models.

Women's pattern making

The course begins with lasts, the analysis of proportions, and the knowledge of proportional measurements: the last is the first and most important component of a shoe. From the flattening of the last, the base shell is created to prepare the model, and finally the different pieces/patterns with all the technical details useful and necessary for prototyping. 

Sneaker pattern making

A course completely dedicated to the world of sneakers, during which the Arsutoria methodology for technical design and the making of sneaker patterns using both board lasted and Strobel construction, which calls for engineering activities in the classroom and hands-on practice in the sample room, will allow you to learn and master the techniques needed to develop essential sneaker models.

Bag pattern making and mockup

The constructions will be covered through the developing of 27 bag patterns of iconic and renown styles such as satchel, bucket bag, saddle bag, drawstring backpack, duffle bag and camera bag just to name a few. Just like, nowadays industrial and professional way of working is drafted through CAD software, Arsutoria School’s tutorials will address pattern making through Rhinoceros. Students will achieve skills and will gain knowledge to make patterns as well as their physical mockups.
